Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been impressed by the level of quality in England‘s young players, but he insists he is not at all surprised by this.
maxbet The Three Lions have an average age in their squad of 26-years-old, which is the joint second youngest in the World Cup alongside France, while only Gary Cahill has over 50 caps for the nation.
But that did not stop them from winning their opening two games of the tournament, first edging past Tunisia 2-1 before hammering World Cup new boys Panama 6-1 to secure their place in the last-16.
And Henderson has admitted he is not surprised by how well England’s young players have done, having seen them in the Premier League.
“We’ve got a lot of belief in this squad – that’s because of the players we’ve got,” he said, as reported by the Express.
